The Grand Hotel Bucharest, formerly known as the Intercontinental, enjoys a central location near the Piata Independentii metro station and the National Theatre, making it ideal for exploring the city. Guests appreciate the spacious rooms, sometimes even upgraded to suites, and the stunning views from higher floors, like the 12th and 18th. The hotel boasts excellent amenities, including a swimming pool, a well-equipped fitness room, and the Sky Lounge restaurant where the filet of sea bass and duck confit are guest favorites; however, some have noted issues with the air conditioning. A convenient breakfast is served until 11 each day.

average stay, some issues noticed

convenient opening hoursair conditioning
the breakfast had convenient opening hours until 11 each day.
I was disappointed the air conditioning didn't work properly. It was only effective in the lobby, not in the rooms. staff said they were surprised by the heatwave and engineers were working on it, but it wasn't fixed . staying in a room at 25/26 degrees was intolerable.

Excellent stay

warm staffpeaceful spasuper clean roomgreat hospitality
The staff made a big impact. They were warm and seemed to genuinely care. The front desk created a cute atmosphere (very important, i think). The spa was peaceful. It featured calming music, and it was very clean. Everything was super clean. The room was fresh. The towels were changed daily. Cleanliness made a difference. People working here created the best atmosphere. The hotel has chosen people with patience, empathy, and a real sense of hospitality.
The room was spacious, HOWEVER there were no chairs on the porch, impossible to fully appreciate the view.
Rooms
9/10
The room featured modern decor with ample natural light. It also contained a king-sized bed with premium bedding. The bathroom had a rainfall shower and high-quality toiletries.
Location
10/10
The hotel is close to central attractions. Many sites are accessible by walking. A metro station is in front of the building, great.
Service
10/10
The staff was attentive. They helped me with directions and recommendations. Check-in was fast. They also arranged for a taxi (very helpful).
Dining

Breakfast had diverse options. I really enjoyed the cheeses and meats. The hotel offers business lunches for 15 €. They are very efficient.
